I’m a minority. I’m black and I’m a woman. I guess that makes me a super minority. Because I’m black and I’m a woman, I face challenges that others will never understand. However, my existence provides me with a unique experience and pride that is untouched. Every day I get to wake up as part of a community of thriving queens with an unconquerable spirit. Together, we create our own stories. We continue to forge a future that is promising while using the successes and upsets of our past to motivate us each step of the way.
“Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company? It’s beyond me.” – Zora Neale Hurston
